When should you start your search for a furnished apartment?

Option to extend the contract

As is often the case, the only real answer to this question is - it depends. A lot of current tenants have the option to extend their contract. This means they have to let us know a month before the contract ends if they’d like to rent their flat for longer or not. So very often, we can’t say whether or not an apartment is really available from the stated date, until a month in advance.

If you get in touch with us one month before you move in, you’ll have the best overview of everything that is available. If that is too short-notice for you, feel free to get in touch with us earlier. We can arrange confirmed alternatives for you, which can be rented out even a couple of months in advance. In this case it is important to let us know exactly what you’re looking for. Important criteria are: district (or where you work), how long you’d consider commuting on public transport, max rental price, number of people/tenants, number of bedrooms, rental period, whether you want to extend the contract or view the property etc.

Renting is not possible too far in advance

Please be aware that it is often impossible to rent an apartment 6 months or more in advance. In the majority of cases, the property has to be available from the date you specify (+/- a week or two), but not beforehand. The owners prefer letting their apartments out continuously and don't like going for long periods without a tenant.
